The approach
A residence is the most demanding brief in interior design, because it has to work at seven in the morning and at eleven at night, on an ordinary Tuesday and on the day thirty people arrive. We plan for all of it before a single material is chosen.
That planning is unglamorous and it is where the value sits: circulation, storage volumes, daylight, sightlines, where the noise goes. Get those right and the finishes have something to sit on. Get them wrong and no amount of marble rescues the room.
